Stone fountain - build quickly yourself

Hardly any garden fountain can be set up faster and easier than a stone fountain. In addition, the well remains beautiful even without much care, since neither plants wilt nor fish die. How a stone fountain with a beautiful spring stone is created and what you need for everything, we have summarized here once step by step.

Build a stone well yourself step by step

  • Sand
  • Gravel
  • Water basin
  • Pump
  • Sourcestone
  • Decorative stones
  • Gravel
  • Grids
  • Pump
  • Hoses
  • Shovel
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Drilling machine
  • Stone drill
  • Rammer
  • Spirit level
  • long straight board

1. Prepare floor

The floor under the pool must be raised a few inches more than the pool is deep. Then the area is compacted well and filled up with a little gravel and sand. Compact the surface several times with a rammer.

2. Aligning the basin

Place the pool on the prepared surface and align it precisely with the spirit level and a straight long board. So that the pool does not slip later due to the weight of water and stones, you should now fill it with water and let it sink for a few days.

While the water is still in the pool, you can then fill the area with soil or stones. Then you can drain the water again to install the pump and the stone fountain.

3. Installing the pump

The pump should be secured against slipping with some larger stones. Use unsightly stones that you do not like visually anyway. Run a test run to see if the pump is actually working and the hoses are pervious.

4. Place grille

There are already very sturdy plastic grids for the garden fountain. However, if you want to place extra heavy stones on it, you should use a metal grid. However, this grid should not only rest on the edge of the well, but depending on the size of the stone fountain in between be intercepted by some large stones.

5. Arranging stones

First, you should connect the source stone with the hose. Only when this stone bubbles nicely, the remaining stone landscape should be arranged. Pay attention to the curbs, as these can easily drain the water from the well. You may need to make a few changes here.

Tips & TricksYou can, of course, pierce the source stone yourself. But the effort is not worth it. Especially if you have gotten a thick natural stone as a source stone, the task for the drill of a handyman can be too great a task.
